In 1901, by authority of the Alabama Constitution, Article V, Section 124, the attorney general, secretary of state, and state auditor were named members of a Board of Pardons which submitted written opinions to the governor regarding the granting of pardons, paroles and revocations. This series records the applications received for executive clemency from prisoners. Information available in each entry includes the style of the case, the county where the criminal was convicted, his crime, the date convicted, term of sentence, the solicitor's name, the judge's name, the date of application for parole or pardon, the name of the individual recommending the parole or pardon, the action of the Pardon Board, and any remarks made by the governor or the members of the Board of Pardons. This volume was created during the administration of Governor Emmett O'Neal (1911-1915).
